Here is a comprehensive list of research you should provide in your portfolios. You are sharing this research in your folders so each of you should be bringing findings to the group.

1. Analyses of music documentaries (look in guardian, daily telegraph videos as well as VH1 and MTV websites. At least a paragraph commenting on:
brand image, how does the band come across? how does it fit the music genre editing (transitions and order of footage ie. interview then cut to cd cover etc)

2. Websites and cd covers (screen grab a few shots and comment on camera shot, clothing, setting, props, layout etc

3. Band logos - choose a few you like, describe the effect of the font, colour etc

4. Record companies and who they've signed, music magazine publisher (which would suit your band and why)

5. Star profile Star Profile link If it doesn't work click label on right.

6. Identification of audience needs/expectations with evidence - research reader profiles of NME, Q, Word online and come up with their own reader profile. Put up a picture of your ideal fan and describe their lifestyle, how much spare money they have and how much they spend on music. http://www.ipcadvertising.com/resource/fd4e20nlh1xefkowjxdha4xu.pdf Here is an example of the NME readership profile.

7. Analysis of your practise production - Screen grab some shots from the video that worked and maybe a couple that didn't and discuss your thoughts on what went well and what could be improved.

8. The exam board calls it a ‘statement of intent’, we've been calling it a pitch. Who are your band, what is the genre, what is your brand image, who is your audience, who are your main influences and what do you plan to include in your final video.
